Thank you for reading, Courtney 💛 I’ve heard people say the thirties are the best, and I haven’t felt that until this year. I’m glad to hear you’re feeling similarly!
Lauren, this hit close to home. I'm curious about the sentence : "That’s how trauma works, after all: It’s the thing that hurts us the most, but also the thing that keeps us safe.". I'd like to dig deeper into that, do you have recs ?
Take care of yourself (keep being your best friend!!)
Thank you for reading, Amande, I appreciate you 🫶 And thank you for asking. I just read a book called Fawning by Ingrid Clayton that talks about how trauma can lead to people pleasing (which is a protective coping skill), but how too much of it can be a detriment. There’s also an excellent memoir called What My Bones Know by Stephanie Foo about complex trauma that explains how it manifests.
As usual, I admire the hard work you have put into yourself. It’s very brave and shows persistence and strength.
Thank you, Kathy, that means a lot 🫶
"In my thirties, now shedding my chameleon skin and my people pleasing habits, I’ve found my way back to myself." 🗣️🗣️🗣️
So perfectly captured and exactly how I'm feeling lately too. Such a lovely essay 🫶

Totally! I've read a lot of elder millennial influencers say that turning 40 is even better so now I'm like bring it on 🫶
Hell yeah, this is great news! I'm very pleased to hear that 🙌
