I love the intentionality behind this, especially the seasonal dinner. I’ve been itching to host one myself! And the ghost candles, so cute 👻

I feel you on the dark... I’m fine with fall and early winter because of the holidays but it’s that Jan-March timeframe where things start to get old. My partner and I decided we are going to plan a sunny getaway in that ~Feb timeframe. We want to make it an annual tradition!

Have you tried the sun lamps? Haven’t had one myself but stayed with a friend once who did and it was nice to wake up with the glow instead of the pitch black lol.

You should definitely do it, I highly recommend! Plus, there are so many fun fall crafts you could incorporate too - the ghost candles are so easy and they turn out so cute! You’ll have to let me know if you do end up hosting one!

Yes!! That exact timeframe always gets me too. And I think the turning of the seasons always feels so fast and that time of the year feels so long. A sunny vacation tradition to break up the gloom is such a good idea!

I haven’t, but I am really considering investing in one for that exact reason! Waking up during winter is so tough so I’m honestly willing to try anything. If I do, I will report back!

Do you have a how-to for the ghosts? I already use candlesticks in my home soo maybe I should just make some for myself hehe.

You should totally make them! I don't have an official how-to, but I will say soaking them in warm-almost-hot water is key to getting them to curve. Soak them for as long as it takes for them to be malleable without having to force it and then set them aside to dry. Once they're dry, you can paint little faces on them using acrylic paint!

I too don’t look forward to the change in weather. Summer is a magical time. Wish I had a tried and true method to combat the blues.

Summer really is magical, isn't it?? (Especially at your house with your pool!)

Your photos are AMAZING! that first backyard pic gave "When the full moon turns white that's when I'll come home - I am going out to see what I can sow - And I don't know where I'll gooooo" (Twilight, anyone?) . I was very impressed with how you described the colours, especially fall. You see, Melbourne shines her best colours precisely in autumn, it's like everything turns gold, even skyscrapers! It's not a pre-winter grey at all. Would it be okay for me to reach out to you at some point via DM for a series idea I had?

Thank you!! Right?! That's exactly what I thought when I took it. In fact, I think my exact thought was "It's very 'hoa hoa hoa' outside" lolol iykyk

Fall is such a lovely time of year, but it gets gray here so quickly. Melbourne sounds gorgeous in the fall, I might have to visit!

And yes, absolutely!

We left the PNW when I was 11 years old and I’ve never looked back. While I love visiting family in the summer months (Seattle in August?? Stunning) I always crave a return to the California sunshine. And even here I find myself deeply affected by the changing seasons. Especially as it starts to get dark earlier… love this list (and all the photos!).

Also my neurologist husband would tell you Vitamin D is a MUST, it’s the only supplement he insists I take.

The PNW can be such a bait and switch! 😅 I just read your birthday post and it's making me want to move to California too!! I have always felt pulled to SF, and if I could convince my husband to move there, I would in a heartbeat.

Ok, I'm sold! I'm going to go grab some today!

Thank you so much for reading 🫶
