I also so appreciate Olivia and her approach to creativity. It’s much like my own. I call myself creatively promiscuous because I’ve never been able to pick just one lane. I’m finally okay with that.
Oh huge Olivia supporter. As a 58 yo woman, I am certainly not her target audience but as I have been reading her writing over the last few years I have come realize I actually am her audience - someone who is curious. And she too has inspired me to start writing….what I feel.
Hi Lauren - I love this! I found you via Olivia's mention of your post on a recent BoP episode and can relate to this so much. Having recently started writing on Substack myself, and in the process of reflecting on how it's going so far, I think I've been too focused on getting it perfect & polished, which can get in the way of just getting my writing out there. So I applaud you for sticking with a consistent practice and honoring your authentic voice. You're inspiring me to do the same!
Morganne, thank you so much for reading and for reaching out! It's so true how perfection often comes with pressure (and sometimes the self-inflicted kind is the most potent), you are not alone in that feeling. The marketer in me has said I should have a cohesive "brand," but the human in me just wants to express herself. Here's to granting ourselves the freedom to just create 🤍 P.S. I saw on your profile that you're from Portland! I'm a fellow PNW girl – I live in Seattle, but my dad's side of the family is all from PDX!

"Creatively promiscuous," I love that. I feel the same way - there are just too many things to love to pick just one. Thank you for reading, Sarah :)

Exactly, Darci, you’re so right - and I’m so glad Olivia has also inspired you to write what you feel. It’s vulnerable, but it can be powerful!

I love it! I actually went to high school in the Seattle area, moved to Portland 9 years ago! The PNW is the best.
Amazing! What a small world, I love that :) and I agree, the PNW is definitely the best!
Love reading this and I can relate to the overwhelming feeling of trying to niche down
Thank you for reading! And I'm glad I'm not alone in feeling that way :)
Love this approach, and cheering you on as you find your voice and dare to show up. Welcome to Substack! ❤️
Thank you so much for reading, Beth, and for your kind words 🤍
